40-Element Helix Antenna Array
 
The antenna array includes 40 helix elements, which are mounted on a circular PEC plate. And each helix element has a dielectric support. GEMS can simulate the arbitrary feed patterns with different phase and amplitude distributions, and calculate the far field pattern, s-parameter matrix, total reflection coefficient, and co-polarization, and cross polarization. To validate GEMS, we remove the dielectric supports and simulate it using MoM code and GEMS independently. We found that GEMS is in good agreement with the MoM result. However, the MoM code cannot simulate the original design due to the dielectric supports. In this design, the dielectric supports significantly affect the performance of antenna array; namely, the maximum gain decreases 2.45dB that is caused by the dielectric supports.
