A modern CPU includes a floating point unit that we use regularly in the software development. However, the another unit in the CPU, vector arithmetic logic unit, which is four times faster than the floating point unit. GEMS uses to accelerate teh simulation. GEMS has used it combined with the advanced optimization techniques to significantly accelerate the GEMS simulation. GEMS has been also optimized for the Intel and AMD NUMA architecture and can siginificantly speed up the simulation.
